Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said the country is experiencing significant development across all regions under the broad-based government led by President William Ruto, noting that large-scale infrastructure and economic projects are being implemented nationwide without regional discrimination.
Speaking on Thursday during an inspection of development projects in Ganze Constituency, Kilifi County, Kindiki said the administration is focused on delivering tangible improvements to citizens’ livelihoods through investments in infrastructure, energy, housing and the blue economy.
He emphasized that the government’s approach prioritizes development over political rhetoric, arguing that citizens are more concerned with service delivery than partisan debate.
“We are very clear in our minds that Kenya will only be changed not by empty politics but politics of development. UDA and ODM will continue working together under the broad-based government to ensure the country is developed,” he said.
Kindiki reiterated that all regions of the country are benefiting equally from ongoing government programmes, stating that no area has been sidelined in the allocation of national resources.
“President William Ruto has ensured that no region in Kenya is left behind or discriminated against in matters of development. Development in Nyanza, Western, Central, and Rift Valley is the same as in the Coast, North Eastern, and Nairobi. Every county is receiving equal development projects,” he added.
In Kilifi County, the Deputy President highlighted ongoing road infrastructure projects valued at Sh25.5 billion, including 385 road works expected to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activity in the coastal region.
Among the projects inspected was the Kilifi-Kikanjuni-Kasava-Kitengwani-Silala-Sangaweni-Bamba road, which Kindiki said is progressing well and is expected to open up the area to trade and ease transportation challenges.
He also launched the Mpirani Last Mile Electrification Project in Ganze, which is set to connect 155 households at a cost of Sh13 million, in addition to supporting nearby businesses, schools, health facilities and religious institutions.
“Electricity is a key enabler of development. This project will improve the quality of life for residents and enhance economic opportunities in the area,” Kindiki said.
The government has allocated Sh2.1 billion to Kilifi County to expand electricity connectivity to an additional 23,589 households, as part of the broader national electrification programme.
Kindiki further noted that the coastal region is receiving targeted investments aimed at strengthening key economic sectors, including fisheries, transport and tourism.
“The coastal region is important like any part of this country. We are constructing roads, extending electricity connection, boosting the blue economy and building affordable houses and modern markets to ensure it is at par with the other regions,” he stated.
Additional investments in Kilifi include Sh983 million for beach management units, construction of landing sites and a fish market, as well as funding for deep sea fishing vessels worth Sh300 million and a Sh70 million search and rescue boat.
Modern markets are also under construction in Mtwapa, Watamu, Mnarani and Mkuluni, aimed at supporting small-scale traders and enhancing local commerce.
Kindiki was accompanied by Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung'aro, along with Members of Parliament, senior government officials and local leaders who joined him in touring the ongoing projects.
